Alberto Prim

Hi, I’m Alberto! I’m a BSc student in Biotechnology at the University of Pavia, and I have always been fascinated by biology, genomics and evolution. Along the way I have grown more and more fond of insects: they are truly extraordinary animals, and the more I learn about them, the more they surprise me. I am currently working with Prof. Ometto on the *Aedes albopictus** project, where my thesis focuses on transposable elements in the asian tiger mosquito. We sampled populations along a climatic gradient to see how their TE content varies across environments, and what this may tell us about the remarkable ability of this species to colonise new places. Outside the lab, I love sports and card games, and I’m a big nerd at heart.
